Broadside Exhibition at UCBA (September 18, 2019)

I have created a total of four Broadsides for an exhibition at the UCBA gallery about the history of the Blue Ash Review. It has been around for 50 years. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a portfolio of poetry broadsides. A broadside is a poster with poem text illustrated with visual designs. There will be a public closing of the exhibition on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 5-7pm. Please come and see the exhibition. Below is a link to the gallery website and one of my Broadsides.

Honeysuckle Void (September 10, 2019)

Last Saturday I participated in Project Honeysuckle. This was an idea that Dinah Marie Devoto came up with to rid a cemetery/park setting of the invasive honeysuckle growth. Honeysuckle is not native to this area and eventually overgrows the native plant species. Her idea was to chop down the honeysuckle and then use that material for some kind of an art installation. Originally, she and I worked together for four hours in August and we came up with the idea of creating a vertical circle between two trees using the chopped down honeysuckle.
Then last Saturday she invited other people to help and Gray Liv and Ildi joined us to create the structure below. We spent another four hours working on this structure.
I call it, “Honeysuckle Void”. I still think it is not completely finished and would like to spend more time to ‘fill-in’ the areas around the void. However, I am not sure if that will happen or not. If it does, I will post the new photos. The first photo shows the structure as we left it. The second photo shows the structure in the far background, and the third photos shows all of us who worked on the structure last Saturday.
