Open Source 1.1 Exhibition at the Carnegie Gallery in Covington, Kentucky (August 28, 2018)

I will have 15 of my Pareidolia: Cloudscape drawings at the Carnegie Gallery in Covington, Kentucky. The opening is September 7, 2018 from 5-8 pm.

Open Source is a new paradigm for a gallery exhibition that invites guest curators to engage with artists to present objects and installations in a continuously evolving gallery environment. It should be quite interesting.

Pareidolia: Cloudscape Series (August 1, 2018)

Latest Pareidolia: Cloudscape series drawing. This one is my favorite one so far – I am not really sure why. I think it has a better composition and ‘feel’.

“Haint” (July 17, 2018)

My latest sketch, I call it “Haint”. I am beginning to create a bunch of these drawings. I was thinking about what they all have in common. I have already posted the metronome, the Salt girl, and the flying scotch bottle. I have about 5 so far and was thinking about labeling them surreal symbolism.

 

Surrealism is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary

1 : the principles, ideals, or practice of producing fantastic or

incongruous imagery or effects in art, literature, film, or

theater by means of unnatural or irrational juxtapositions

and combinations.

Symbolism is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary

1 : the art or practice of using symbols especially by investing things with a symbolic meaning or by expressing the invisible or intangible by means of visible or sensuous representations: such as

a : artistic imitation or invention that is a method of revealing or suggesting immaterial, ideal, or otherwise intangible truth or states

b : the use of conventional or traditional signs in the

representation of divine beings and spirits
