New Signature as of June 2020 (June 16, 2020)
I have been signing my artwork as ‘Hartz © year’ since 1976 which was my first professional exhibition at the David Gallery in Akron Ohio. I showed two suites of prints. I have exhibited almost every year since then. Below I have attached my exhibition lists a .pdf.
As of June 2020 I will be signing my work D. Hartz © year or David Hartz © year. This is being done because my brother Jon Hartz and my nephew Ryan Hartz have been creating artwork as well. Jon has been creating small sculptures from recycled materials and Ryan has been painting murals, rocks and other materials.
I have spoken to them both and we all agree to sign our works with our first initial or first name as well as our last name to keep things clear.

4 Leaf Clover (May 27, 2020)
My luckiest summer ever. I found three four-leaf clovers. This is the first time I have ever found one.
“Drawing Water” (April 20, 2020)
“Drawing Water” – latest drawing Procreate. I think this is the start of a new series of drawings. I like the challenge of trying to draw something that is so fluid but has a definite solidness with respect to light and shadow.
Hornet and Hummingbird (March 30, 2020)
Here is a recent sketch of a hornet and hummingbird that was inspired by a drawing by Zach Horvath. Zach is the son of a really important artist friend who recently passed away. His dad, Mike and I collaborated on many art performances, artworks, publications and projects. His son, Zach is himself a talented artist and this drawing was inspired by a drawing he drew of a bird and mosquito.
